Real Red Silk Shibori Kyo-Kanoko Hair Tie

This red & white shibori ‘Kanoko’ is a REAL one actually made for the Maiko of Gion. This is a classic item worn in a Maiko’s hair. It can be tied directly into the hair or wrapped around a Kogai Kanzashi. It is beautifully made of real silk shibori. Finest quality – Hand made in Kyoto by skilled craftsmen. It comes in a beautiful washi-paper box for storage.

It comes from a shop called KINTAKEDO which is located in the heart of Kyoto’s Gion Kobu, Hanamachi District that has over a 100 year history of supplying Kanzashi hair ornaments to the Maiko and Geiko of Gion Kobu.
