Kansai Tokoyama Bintsuke is the wax is used in virtually all traditional Japanese ‘Nihongami’ hair styles to straighten and shape the hair or wig.
This is the exact item used by professional ’Nihongami’ hairdressers when styling the Maiko and Geiko’s hair and wigs.
They actually come in 16 degrees of hardness with #1 being the softest and #16 the hardest. However as many of them are for specialized perposes and are not always available, we are only offering #9 in this listing. One pack is 37 grams.
The most useful for general purposes is #9 as it can easily be melted for use – if you would like another hardness, just let us know with a note on your payment.
To use it, just soften it between the hands and apply to either the comb or directly onto the section of the hair being styled. The hair is then normally tied with Mottoi (see photo) which are also available in our ebay Store.
Note: a real Tsuge wood styling comb with a long pointed handle is invaluable for separating the sections of hair. They are available in our Ebay Store along with the ‘Mottoi’ hair ties and ‘Ketabo’ hair augmentation pieces.
