About Mizoro Dying:
Mizoro dyeing is a traditional black dyeing technique developed primarily in Kyoto called “Mizokuro Black (Golden Gall Black).” It’s characterized by its extremely deep, “ultimate black,” achieved by using gallnuts as the base dye and indigo as the top dye. Compared to other dyeing methods, it’s more durable and less likely to fade, making it a highly valued choice for the highest quality mourning wear (black crested kimono). Kyoto Black Montsuki Dyeing: A long-established Kyoto dyeing technique used for crested hakama and formal kimono.
