Hand Made Japanese Chochin Lantern: 2-CHO

This a real Japanese Chochin lantern, hand made of the finest natural materials on Yanaginobanba street in Kyoto by craftsmen skilled in the ancient art of Japanese lantern making. Made of a special kind of extremely tough Washi-Paper, this is the REAL thing – an absolutely authentic and iconic symbol of Japanese tradition. Each one has a lacquered bamboo top and bottom and includes a metal handle at the top for hanging and a loop at the bottom for a tassel. It is easy to rig it with a small lightbulb for a dramatic touch at night. Tassels and lighting fixtures can be ordered separately by request.

Choose from 12 traditional Japanese Kamon (Family Crest) designs in either red or black.

This shape is called “2-Cho and measures 33cm X 63cm or 13 in x 24 ¾ inches

Note that it can take up to 2-3-weeks production time as these are custom made.
