A complete traditional Shiro-Nuri (白塗り) makeup set, assembled in Japan using the genuine Japanese cosmetics, brushes and tools used to create the distinctive white makeup associated with Geisha, Maiko and Kabuki performers.
This is not a theatrical costume or novelty makeup kit. The individual components are authentic Japanese professional products, including the foundation preparation, white doran, finishing powder, rouge, red and black lining colours, eyebrow wax and the specialized brushes traditionally used for their application.
The process begins with Kabuki Abura, which prepares the skin for the white makeup. Kabuki Shiroi is mixed with water and brushed onto the face to create the opaque white base, followed by Kona Oshiroi powder. Tonoko and the red and black lining colours are then used to add the characteristic shading and details around the eyes and lips.
The set also includes the specialist hake brushes, beni brush and sponge puff needed for the different stages of application.
