Japanese Geisha Maiko ‘Yachiyo Hake’ Cosmetic Brush Med – Item Actually Used by Kyoto’s Famous Maiko & Geisha

This traditional, hand-made ‘Yachiyo-Hake’ Brush is for dusting your cheeks and the area around the eyes with ‘Tonoko Rouge’ and ‘Kona Oshiroi’ Face Powder – the white powder used by Geiko and Kabuki Actors.

It is made in the traditional way and is the exact one used by the Maiko and Geisha of Gion. We get them from a supplier in heart of the Gion Kobu ‘Hanamachi’ District that has a long history of supplying makeup to the Maiko and Geiko of Gion and to Kabuki Actors from the Minamiza. It is made of soft, natural bristle goat hair wrapped in a lacquered bamboo stem. It measures 6½” (16 cm) in length.
