Vintage Red Habutae-Kasa Traditional Umbrella
Probably at least 50 years old, his lovely, and extremely rare type of traditional umbrella was hand crafted in Kyoto of lacquered bamboo and washi paper, coated with silk. This type of Wagasa is sturdy, waterproof and can actually be used in the rain. It is finely made and still in its original cotton storage sleeve. This one is deep red and the outer struts are lacquered in purple. It has two settings for fully and partially open. There are many fakes on eBay but this is an authentic one of fine quality: made in Japan.
It was pre-owned but is in excellent condition with no signs damage or wear – see photos.
It measures about: 33” or 76cm long and about 43” or 110cm across when open.
Weight: 435g
