VTG Japanese Red Lacquered Wooden Comb Kushi-Kanzashi Hair Ornament Tsuzumi Drum

This lovely Kushi kanzashi is made of lacquered Tsuge Boxwood. The artwork is done in rich gold lacquer over a deep red lacquer base with tiny mother of pearl inlays.The motif is a Tsuzumi Japanese hand-held drum.

Kanzashi like this are normally not used as a comb but rather worn as an ornament in the hair.
