Description

A beautiful vintage Japanese Arita-yaki sake serving set, made by Fukagawa (深川) in the 1970s.

The five-piece set consists of one sculptural tokkuri sake flask and four matching choko cups. The porcelain is decorated with a particularly attractive traditional Japanese design of sakura (cherry blossoms) floating among bold streams of flowing cobalt-blue water, accented with red and gold.

The angular form of the tokkuri gives the set a distinctive mid-20th-century character while retaining the traditional materials and decorative vocabulary of Arita porcelain. The matching pedestal-footed choko complete the design beautifully.

This is an authentic vintage Japanese set that works equally well for serving sake or as a decorative display of Japanese porcelain.
