Enaga & Umemodoki — うめもどきにエナガ
A charming new design from Rakushian’s Autumn 2026 collection, handmade in Kyoto, Japan.
Two tiny enaga — Japanese long-tailed tits — have discovered the bright red berries of umemodoki (Japanese winterberry). One rests lightly among the berry-laden branches while the other flutters above, capturing a wonderfully gentle moment in the Japanese countryside.
The vivid red berries against the warm, natural linen and the almost snowy-white birds make this a particularly lovely design for the season when autumn gradually gives way to winter.
Rakushian’s distinctive Slim Tapestries are unusually long and narrow, measuring approximately 10 cm wide × 170 cm long. They are designed to bring a touch of the Japanese seasons into places where a conventional wall hanging might be too large — a narrow wall, pillar, entranceway or small corner of a room.
This piece is made from 100% linen using Rakushian’s No.20 woven cloth and is individually hand-dyed. The natural texture and subtle irregularities of the linen are part of its character, giving each tapestry a warm, handcrafted appearance.
A white birch hanging rod is included, together with the weighted lower section that allows the long textile to hang neatly.
