Vintage Kyoto Daimaru Cotton Shantung Table Runner In Paulownia Wood Box
This unique table runner is made of shantung fabric (probably silk but not sure) in a scene that depcts the original storefront of Kyoto’s iconic Daimaru Department Store which opened in 1717 as a textile shop. It is double-sewn and is plain gold on the back. It was probably intended as a gift for special customers. It is in perfect, unused condition in its original paulownia wood box – see photos for details.
