Set of 5 Zabuton Cushion Covers
This beautiful set of five vintage zabuton cushion covers has never been used and remains in perfect, new condition.
Zabuton are traditional Japanese cushions used for sitting on the floor around a low table and are also commonly used for meditation, tea ceremony, and other traditional Japanese arts.
The set includes five identical cushion covers printed on both sides with a striking Shimenawa (sacred rope) design. In Japan, shimenawa ropes are associated with Shinto shrines and are traditionally used to mark sacred spaces. The bold rope motif stands out beautifully against the deep burgundy background, creating a design that is both elegant and distinctly Japanese.
Each cover is fitted with a zipper closure and is designed to hold a standard 55 × 59 cm zabuton cushion.
These covers were manufactured in Japan by Serizawa as part of the Sakura Series, combining traditional Japanese design with high-quality craftsmanship.
Stuffing for the cushions can easily be made using materials available from sewing and fabric suppliers in your home country. For a traditional feel, use heavy cotton batting rather than foam. The batting is typically sewn into a simple inner cushion made from plain cotton fabric and stuffed to a thickness of approximately 5–8 cm.
These attractive covers will add an authentic Japanese touch to your home, tea room, meditation space, or studio.
