Set of 5 Zabuton Cushion Covers
This beautiful vintage set of zabuton cushion covers dates from the 1980s and has never been used, remaining in perfect, new condition.
The set includes five identical covers printed on both sides. Each cover features an attractive Mingei-inspired floral design composed of patchwork-style blossoms and traditional Japanese textile patterns set against a rich deep wine-red background. The combination of warm colours, folk-art motifs, and geometric elements creates a distinctive design that is both decorative and unmistakably Japanese.
The covers zip along one side and are designed to fit standard 55 × 59 cm zabuton cushions.
They were manufactured in Japan by Isai, a textile company well known for producing fine zabuton covers featuring beautiful traditional and contemporary Japanese designs.
Stuffing for the cushions can easily be made using materials available from sewing and fabric suppliers in your home country. Traditional zabuton are typically filled with layers of cotton batting rather than foam, creating a comfortable and supportive floor cushion.
Zabuton are traditional Japanese cushions used for sitting around a low table and are also popular for tea ceremony, meditation, reading, and relaxation. This attractive set will add a warm and authentic Japanese touch to your home.
Vintage unused condition. A wonderful example of 1980s Japanese textile design, preserved in excellent new condition and ready to use or display.
