Set of 5 Zabuton Cushion Covers
This attractive vintage set of zabuton cushion covers features a charming Japanese folk-art inspired design printed on both sides. The light blue background is decorated with stylised flowers, flowing forms, and playful traditional motifs called “Kusae No Sekai” (The World Of Grass) by artist Keiko Tada, creating a distinctive mid-century Japanese aesthetic that is both artistic and decorative.
The set includes five identical covers, each fitted with a zipper closure and designed to hold standard 55 × 59 cm zabuton cushions.
These covers were made in Japan by a manufacturer known for producing high-quality zabuton covers with beautiful traditional and contemporary designs.
Stuffing for the cushions can easily be made using materials available from sewing and fabric suppliers in your home country. Traditional zabuton are typically filled with layers of cotton batting rather than foam, creating a firm but comfortable cushion suitable for floor seating.
Zabuton are traditional Japanese cushions used for sitting around a low table and are also popular for meditation, tea ceremony, reading, and relaxation. This set will add a distinctive Japanese touch to any room, tea space, or meditation area.
Vintage unused condition. The covers have never been used and retain their original fresh appearance. A wonderful example of Japanese textile design that is ready to bring warmth and character to your home.
