Both pieces are made from natural Japanese Hinoki (Japanese cypress), prized for its beautiful pale grain, smooth feel and naturally fresh, distinctive fragrance. Hinoki has long been associated with Japanese bathing and onsen culture, making this an especially lovely set for a Japanese-style bathroom, home spa or soaking-bath area.
The bath stool is considerably larger and more substantial than the small Hinoki stools commonly available, measuring 35 cm wide and 30 cm high. Its broad seat makes it comfortable for everyday use.
A particularly thoughtful feature is the built-in shelf beneath the seat, designed to hold the matching oke when it is not in use. This keeps the two pieces neatly together while allowing air to circulate around the basin for proper drying.
The traditional round oke bath basin is also made from Hinoki and finished with genuine copper bands, which provide a beautiful warm contrast to the pale natural wood. It measures 22.5 cm across and 11.5 cm deep.
