Item Description:

A cheerful Kyoto-made linen noren inspired by a sun-ripened Japanese summer orange. Directly dyed by hand with brushes, its warm citrus tones and soft natural gradations bring a fresh, summery atmosphere to the home.

This bright and expressive Japanese noren takes its inspiration from the natsumikan—the Japanese summer orange ripened beneath the warm sunlight.

The oversized fruit is rendered in glowing orange against soft sage green and natural ivory. Its deliberately bold composition and gently irregular forms give the design a relaxed, contemporary character while retaining the warmth of traditional Japanese textile work.

Rather than using resist paste, the artisan applies the dye directly to the linen with brushes. This freehand process creates soft gradations and natural areas of colour diffusion, giving every part of the design a rich and subtly varied appearance.

Made in Kyoto by Manyōsha, this two-panel linen noren brings the refreshing brightness of summer to a doorway, room divider or wall display. Its naturally textured weave and gentle translucence allow light to filter through the fabric beautifully.

The hanging rod shown in the photograph is not included.
