Professional Mitsuyoshi Shiro-Nuri Makeup Puff & Dish Set

This traditional two-piece set is designed for the application of Shiro-Nuri (白塗り) and other liquid stage makeup. It includes a soft professional makeup puff together with the shallow dish used during preparation and application.

This is the type of professional makeup equipment used for traditional Japanese white makeup by Geiko and Maiko, as well as Kabuki and Nihon Buyō performers.

When applying traditional Shiro-Nuri, the opaque white liquid makeup is prepared in the dish and initially applied to the skin with a hake brush. The soft sponge puff is then used to gently spread and even the makeup while absorbing excess moisture, helping produce the smooth, uniform finish characteristic of traditional Japanese stage makeup.

The generous 9.5 cm puff is particularly useful for covering larger areas such as the face, neck, shoulders and upper back. It can also be used with other liquid cosmetics and facial masks.

Both pieces are made in Japan by Mitsuyoshi (三善), the long-established Japanese professional theatrical cosmetics maker whose products are widely used for traditional stage and performance makeup.
