Vintage Lacquered Wooden Kushi & Kougai Kanzashi Hair Ornament Set in Original Case

This gorgeous, vintage kanzashi set appears to be about 60-80 years old is made of tsuge boxwood, lacquered in rich black & red in a striking, traditional “maiogi” dance fan design with hand-painted details in gold. This is an absolutely stunning set and would clearly have been very expensive when originally purchased. Kanzashi like this are normally not used as a comb but rather worn as an ornament in the hair.

Condition:

It is in near-perfect condition in its original “kiri” paulownia wood box. The case shows its age with minor discouloration but the silk lining is in very good condition with no moth damage.
