These monpe are a Japanese folk garment in a traditional cotton kasuri weave called “Kurume-Ori”. Monpe are a loose-fitting type of trouser worn for generations in Japan for housework, farming or gardening. The patterns are woven into the fabric – not printed. There is a single patch pocket on the right front and both the waist and cuffs are elasticized for comfort.

They are made by a company in Kyushu called Kuwanoshinken which specializes in traditional Japanese clothing such as “Hanten”, “Samue”, “Jinbei”, “Kappougi” and “Monpe” – all of their products are excellent quality and made in Japan.
Kurume-Ori Characteristics:
They are resistant to fading because the thread is separately dyed.
Each thread is vividly colored with special dyes.
The production process of the fabric entails spinning, yarn dyeing, twisting, warping, machine rinsing, weaving and more than 30 steps to produce durability and texture.
The more you will wash the fabric, the more the texture will come out.
Avoid washing your monpe with white clothing at the start just to make sure as some transfer may occur. In addition, please avoid putting them in a dryer.
