The basin is a replica of the original iconic plastic “oke” first used at public bath houses in Japan in 1963. The basin was used to pour hot water over yourself prior to entering the bath tub and also to soak and wring out your towel.
KERORIN is a kind of gereral-purpose medication used for all kinds of ailments in Japan for generations and it was advertised by supplying these “oke” basins to public path houses, printed with their logo.
They also appeared in the Japanese/Italian movie: Thermae Romae (テルマエ・ロマエ)
