This dramatic Noren is called: Hyotan 扇面. It is an all year noren with a large in earthy tones depicting a large gourd which represents good health.
It is sewn over at the top to accommodate a wooden or bamboo stick (not included). It can then be hung on the wall or more typically, in the doorway. It is divided into two panels so that people may pass through.
It is made of hand-woven Ramie linen by Rakushian of Kyoto. Rakushian is famous for their Ramie linen noren curtains and kakijiku tapestries which are quality works of art produced in small quantities and normally sold exclusively in fine stores in Japan.
