A plum blossom blooming in red and white is gorgeously hand-painted against the background of the full moon.
The plum tree, which endures the winter and blooms before the other flowers, is an auspicious flower that heralds the arrival of spring.
You can enjoy it for a long time from New Year’s Day to early spring.
It is sewn over at the top to accommodate a wooden or bamboo stick (not included). It can then be hung on the wall or more typically, in the doorway. It is divided into two panels so that people may pass through.
It is made of hand-woven Ramie linen by Rakushian of Kyoto. Rakushian is famous for their Ramie linen noren curtains and kakijiku tapestries which are quality works of art produced in small quantities and normally sold exclusively in fine stores in Japan.
